1,251,867. Abscisic acid derivative. R. J. REYNOLDS TOBACCO CO. 13 March, 1969 [18 March, 1968], No. 13380/69. Headings C2C and C2P. [Also in Division C1] The invention comprises alkyl and alkoxyalkyl esters of abscisic acid, the ester groups of which contain 6-18 carbon atoms, and watersoluble amine salts of said acid. The esters are prepared by reacting 4-(1-hydroxy-4-oxo-2,6,6- trimethyl - 2 - cyclohexene - 1 - yl) - 3 - butene- 2 - one with a compound of the formula where R is alkyl or alkoxyalkyl of 6-18 carbon atoms. The salts are prepared by reacting the free acid with an amine. The phosphorane compounds are prepared by reacting triphenyl phosphine with a compound of the formula CICH 2 CO 2 R or BrCH 2 CO 2 R. |
