titleOfInvention | Catalyst system and use thereof for copolymerizing olefines |
abstract | 1,247,811. Four-component olefin copolymerization catalysts. UNIROYAL Inc. 8 Jan., 1969 [25 March, 1968], No. 1070/69. Heading C3P. A catalyst comprises (1) vanadium oxytrichloride; (2) an alkyl aluminium sesquichloride; (3) 2-nitropropane or beta-methylanthraquinone as activator; and (4) an organic Lewis base containing oxygen, nitrogen, sulphur, selenium or tellurium as acid-acceptor. Suitable components (4) are amines, ketones, ethers, esters, urea, thiourea, tetrazoles, sulphones, sulphoxides, oxides or hydrazine, those exemplified being di-n-butylamine, pyridine, diphenylamine, N,N - dimethylalphanaphthylamine, n - octylamine, N - methylaniline, diethyl ether, ethyl acetate, acetone and alphanaphthylamine. The catalyst is most suitably used for copolymerization of olefins, optionally together with a non-conjugated diene, particularly of ethylene and propylene with dicyclopentadiene, ethylidene - or methylenenorbornene, cyclo-octadiene, or 1,4-hexadiene. |
