abstract 1,245,616. Diphosphacyclopent - 5 en - 4 ones. RUHRCHEMIE A.G. 4 Oct., 1968 [13 Oct., 1967; 7 Nov., 1967; 15 July, 1968], No. 47250/68. Heading C2C. 1,2 - Diphosphacyclopent - 5 - en - 4 - ones having the general formula in which R 1 is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, heterocyclic or aromatic radical linked to the nucleus via oxygen, R 2 and R 3 are aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, heterocyclic or aromatic radicals, A is oxygen, sulphur or nitrogen, n is 0 or 1 and may be 2 when A is S or N, R 4 , R 5 and R 6 are carboxylic acid ester groups are prepared by reacting a duster of a malonic acid with a compound X 2 P-(A) n R, where X is a halogen atom, R is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, heterocyclic or aromatic radical which may be substituted. Bases such as triethylamine or tributylamine may be added to accept the hydrogen halide evolved. Complexes with transition metals may be obtained. The compounds are useful as pest controlling agents.
