Novel compounds of formula and acid addition salts thereof wherein R<SP>1</SP> is H, Cl, methyl or methoxy, R<SP>2</SP> is H, C 1-4 alkyl, benzyl or phenyl optionally substituted by Cl, CF 3 , methyl or methoxy, A<SP>1</SP> is -CH 2 -, -CH 2 CH 2 -, -CO-, -CH 2 CO- or -CH(OH)CH 2 -, A<SP>2</SP> is -CH 2 -, -CH 2 CH 2 - or -CH(CH 3 )- and Z is -S-, -SO- or -SO 2 -, are prepared by reacting the compounds of formulĀµ wherein Y is a reactive radical such as halogen or methyl- or p-tolylsulphonyloxy, or by reaction of a compound of formulĀµ with HS-A<SP>2</SP>-COOH and R<SP>2</SP>NH 2 optionally with salt formation. 2 - (4 - Oxopiperidinomethyl) 1,4 - benzodioxane is prepared by reaction of 1,4-benzodioxan - 2 - yl methyl methane sulphonate and 4,4-diethoxypiperidine followed by acid hydrolysis. Pharmaceutical compositions in conventional forms for oral or parenteral administration an having vascodilator activity comprise an above novel compound or salt and a carrier or adjuvant.
