| abstract | 1,243,885. Conjugated diolefin polymers and preparation. INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE DES CARBURANTS. ET LUBRIFIANTS. 17 July, 1969 [22 July, 1968], No. 36088/69. Heading C3P. Conjugated diolefins are polymerized in the presence of a #-allyl nickel haloacetate and a nitro-aromatic compound. The polybutadiene produced is characterized by having 40 to 55% cis - 1,4 - units, 40 to 55% trans - 1,4 - units and 1 to 20% of 1,2 - units, by having an intrinsic viscosity in toluene at 30‹ C. of at least 1 dl./g., and by having only one peak at about 22À8‹ C. and a crystallinity of at least 5% when examined under X-rays at -30‹ to -60‹ C., said crystallinity being absent at 20‹ C. In examples, butadiene or isoprene are homopolymerized in the presence of #-allyl nickel trifluoroacetate and nitrobenzene. |
