titleOfInvention | Stabilisation of halogenated hydrocarbons |
abstract | 1,241,300. Stabilized halogenated hydrocarbons. IMPERIAL CHEMICALS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 5 Dec., 1968 [21 Dec., 1967], No. 58171/67. [21 Dec., 1967], No. 58171/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Divisions C4-C5] A saturated halogenated hydrocarbon containing (a) at least one fluorine atom or (b) at least the chlorine atom and at least one hydrogen atom is stabilized by the addition of a benzotriazole or a benziminazole of formulĀµ respectively, where R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are hydrogen or alkyl. The stabilizer is used in amounts of from 100 to 50,000 parts by weight per million of halogenated hydrocarbon. Specified hydrocarbons are methylene chloride, 1,1,1 - trichloroethane, fluorotrichloromethane, dichlorodifluoromethane and trifluorotrichloroethane. Conventional stabilizers may be present, e.g. alcohols, ketones, esters, epoxy compounds, cyclic ethers, alkylamines, olefines, nitriles, pyrroles, nitroalkanes and alkyl nitrates. An aerosol composition comprises a stabilized chlorofluoroalkane propellant, alcohol and water. |
