titleOfInvention Urea derivatives
abstract 1,241,047. N-Hydroxy urea derivatives. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 23 Oct., 1968 [24 Oct., 1967], No. 50345/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] The invention comprises compounds of the Formula I wherein X represents a halogen atom or a trifluoromethyl, nitro, methylsulphonyl, lower alkyl C 1 _ 4 or alkoxy C 1 _ 4 group, n is an integer from 0 to 3, R<SP>1</SP> represents a lower aliphatic C 1 _ 4 radical, R<SP>2</SP> represents an hydrogen atom or if R<SP>1</SP> is a methyl group, R<SP>2</SP> represents an hydrogen atom or a methyl group, Y represents the groups -CONHCH 3 or -CON(CH 3 ) 2 or -Z-R<SP>3</SP> in which R<SP>3</SP> denotes the group -CONHR<SP>4</SP>, wherein R<SP>4</SP> represents-a hydrogen atom or a lower aliphatic C 1 _ 4 radical or R<SP>3</SP> represents a carboxyl group or a salt thereof and Z represents a linear or branched aliphatic radical C 1 _ 5 . They are prepared by reacting the appropriately substituted N-hydroxy urea with methyl isocyanate or dimethylcarbamoyl chloride or by the reaction of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salts of the N-hydroxy urea with a halocarboxylic acid or halocarboxylamide. The compounds of Formula I have herbicidal activity.
