titleOfInvention | Recovering butanols |
abstract | 1,240,847. Recovering butanols. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 19 Dec., 1968 [20 Dec., 1967], No. 60334/68. Heading C2C. Butanols which have been prepared by reaction of propylene with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a hydroformylation catalyst at elevated temperature and superatmospheric pressure and distilling off the greater part of the butyraldehydes formed, are recovered from the reaction mixture by subjecting the reaction mixture without previous hydrogenation to a distillation by which is separated a crude butanol mixture which is devoid of butyraldehydes and compounds boiling above 150‹ C., treating the crude butanol mixture with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide distilling the resultant organic phase in the presence of water while separating azeotrope-forming substances with simultaneous dehydration, and then separating the resultant butanol mixture by distillation into n-butanol and isobutanol. |
