[Also in Division G2] The invention comprises compounds of the formula where X is H or halogen; Y is H, alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1-4 carbon atoms, aryloxy or halogen; R 1 is tert-butyl or optionally substituted phenyl; R 2 is H or straight or branched chain alkyl of 1-14 carbon atoms and R 3 is straight or branched chain alkyl of 1-18 carbon atoms, the sum of the carbon atoms in R 2 and R 3 being 8 or more. The compounds wherein X is H are prepared by condensing a compound of the formula with ethyl pivaloylacetate or a substituted or unsubstituted ethyl benzoylacetate. The compounds wherein X is halogen are prepared from those in which X is H.
