[Also in Division C3] Compounds of the formula where X is F or CF 3 and M is an alkali metal are prepared by reacting compounds of the formula and ROM where R is a hydrocarbon group which does not interfere with the reaction in an inert organic solvent. The salts can be converted to sulphonyl chlorides by reaction with PCl 5 and in turn to sulphonyl fluorides by reaction of the chloride with NaF. The salts can be converted to the free acid by reaction with a strong inorganic acid. |
