titleOfInvention | Modified fibre-forming polyamides with an improved affinity for acid dyes |
abstract | 1,236,543. Polyamides. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 2 Feb., 1970 [1 Feb., 1969], No. 4815/70. Heading C3R. A modified fibre-forming polyamide P has, chemically attached to the chain, 0À01-10% wt. of a basic monoepoxy compound E where R 1 and R 2 independently represent: a C 1-20 aliphatic radical which may carry substituent group(s) S inert to polyamides; or a cycloalkyl or benzyl radical; or R 1 and R 2 , with the N to which they are attached, may form a heterocyclic ring. S may be OH or dialkyl amino. E may be added to a melt of the polyamide or to polyamide-forming starting material. E may be added before, during or after polymerization. P may be poly-#-caprolactam. The polymerization may be performed continuously or batchwise. The product has an increased content of basic groups, and hence has increased affinity for acid dyes. |
