A method for destroying nematodes in the ground consists of introducing or applying a composition containing hexachlorobutadiene. In examples, the hexachlorobutadiene is applied with injecting nozzles. Other pesticides which may be included are endrin, heptachlor, lindane, DDT, endosulfan, dibromochloropropane, dichloropropane, dichloropropene, chloropicrin, methyl bromide, ethylene dibromide, metam sodium, aryl carbamates and phosphoric esters.
