abstract | 1,234,444. Thermosetting ink compositions. SUN CHEMICAL CORP. 4 July, 1968 [11 July, 1967; 13 May, 1968], No. 32021/68. Headings C3P and C3R. A solvent-free, thermosetting ink composition comprises (i) a thermosetting amino resin which is a urea-formaldehyde condensate, a substituted urea-formaldehyde condensate, a melamineformaldehyde condensate or a substituted melamine-formaldehyde condensate, (ii) a polyol maleate and/or polyol fumarate in monomeric and/or polymeric form, (iii) a polymerization inhibitor, and (iv) 0-10% by weight of the composition of a catalyst effective to promote polymerization of the polyol maleate and/or polyol fumarate and/or to promote interpolymerization of components (i) and (ii). In the examples, the compositions comprise: as (i) ureaformaldehyde, melamine-formaldehyde, butylatedmelamine-formaldehyde and methoxy melamine-formaldehyde condensates; as (ii) polyol maleate resin, trimethylolpropane maleate and fumarate, trimethylolethane maleate and fumarate, glycerol fumarate, rosin-modified polyol maleate and fumarate resins; as (iii) morpholine, d-limonene, glycol mercaptoacetate, t-butyl diethanolamine, monoethanolamine, triethanolamine, N-amino morpholine, N-amino propylmorpholine, neohexene, cyclooctene, bis-(2- hydroxyethyl) cocoamine oxide, bis - (2- hydroxyethyl) octadecylamine oxide, and cyclohexene; as (iv) p-toluene sulphonic acid, phosphoric acid, hydrochloric acid, maleic anhydride, fumaric anhydride, phthalic anhydride, cobalt naphthenate, manganese octoate, lauroyl peroxide, benzoyl peroxide, and the triethanolamine salt of sulphonic acid; also present were: dibutyl phthalate, dihexyl phthalate, micropulverized carnauba wax, polyethylene, carbon black, Milori Blue, t-butyl peroxide, blown linseed oil, phthalocyanine green and iron blue pigment. |
