abstract | 1,234,054. Pyrrole carboxaldehydes. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 3 Oct., 1968 [5 Oct., 1967], No. 46895/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Divisions C4 and G2] 5 - Methylpyrrole - 2 - carboxaldehyde is prepared by adding POCl 3 to cooled N,N- dimethylformamide, adding dichloroethane to the mixture, and after cooling adding a solution of 2-methylpyrrole in dichloroethane. The mixture is then heated at reflux, and after cooling a solution of sodium acetate in water is added, the mixture refluxed and the layers separated. 1 - Phenylpyrrole - 2 - carboxaldehyde and 1,5- diphenylpyrrole - 2 - carboxaldehyde are prepared similarly from the corresponding reactants. |
