abstract 1,231,537. Photoreactive TiO 2 . NATIONAL LEAD CO. 21 March, 1969 [22 May, 1968], No. 15112/69. Addition to 1,189,746. Heading C1N. The photoreactive TiO 2 particles of parent Specification are coated with the hydrous oxide of one or more of lead, bismuth, titanium, zinc, silicon or aluminium in an amount of 0À2-2% calculated as oxide and based on the weight of TiO 2 exclusive of any TiO 2 in the coating. The coating is applied by slurrying the TiO 2 particles in water, adding a soluble metal salt and precipitating (e.g. by ammonia) a hydrous oxide on to the surface of the particles, which are then filtered, washed, dried and ground. Examples describe coatings of the above individual oxides and of a mixture of Bi 2 O 3 and TiO 2 .
