abstract 1,227,514. Dyeing polyesters. J. R. GEIGY A.G. 3 Feb., 1969 [2 Feb., 1968; 6 Nov., 1968], No. 5725/69. Heading D1B. Organic textile material made of hydrophobic polyesters are dyed or printed with an aqueous liquor or paste containing a waterdispersible dye, a fibre swelling agent, a synthetic hydrophilic polymer e.g. polyvinyl alcohol a water-miscible organic solvent and optionally further additives. Hydrophobic polyesters are cellulose triacetate and linear polyesters which may be blended with wool, cotton or polyacrylonitrile. Fibre swelling agents are phenylphenols and water soluble alkali metal salts, water-miscible solvents include glycols, glycol ethers, methyl pyrrolidone, formamide, dimethyl formamide, dimethylacetamide, acetonitrile, a preferred mixture includes o-phenylphenol, polyvinyl alcohol, ethylene glycol and water and disperse dye.
