abstract | 1,225,560. Stabilization of 1,1,1-trichloroethane. DOW CHEMICAL CO. 23 Dec., 1968 [29 Dec., 1967; 24 Jan., 1968], No. 61108/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C5] 1,1,1-Trichloroethane is stabilized by a dioxepin compound of the Formula (I): wherein A is a cycloalkylidene radical (C 5-6 ) or a radical of the Formula II: wherein the group R is hydrogen or alkyl and the group R 1 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl (C 2-4 ), acetyl, furyl, carbalkoxymethyl, phenyl, hydroxyphenyl or alkoxyphenyl, the said alkyl and alkoxy groups having from 1-4 carbon atoms. The stability of 1,1,1-trichlorethane is especially improved by the use of, by volume, 2-10% of the dioxepin compound, 0.25-2% either of nitromethane or of propargyl alcohol or a mixture of the two, and 0.25-2% of an alkylene oxide (C 3-5 ) optionally containing a chlorine atom. |
