titleOfInvention | Linear condensation polymers containing carbonamide and heterocyclic linkages |
abstract | 1,222,050. Polyamide - polybenzoxazoles. MONSANTO CO. 10 Jan., 1968 [13 Jan., 1967], No. 45282/70. Divided out of 1,220,451. Heading C3R. [Also in Division C2] The invention comprises polymers having recurring units of formula They may be prepared from the corresponding heterocyclic diamine and phthaloyl halide or from the corresponding polyamide polyphenol having, for example, recurring units of formula The products may be made into films and fibres. In Example I 2,4-diaminophenol dihydrochloride is reacted with isophthaloyl chloride in polyphosphoric acid to produce the heterocyclic diamine which is polymerized with terephthaloyl chloride in a mixture of hexamethyl phosphoramide and DMA containing LiCl. In Examples II and III an amino-nitrophenol is reacted with a phthaloyl chloride to produce the corresponding diamide of the acid; this is reduced to the corresponding diamine which is polymerized with a phthaloyl chloride in N-methylpyrrolidone containing LiCl. The resulting polyamide-polyphenol is made into a film and then heated to cyclize it. |
