[Also in Division A5] A mixture of dioctyl-, didecyl- and decyloctyl-dimethyl ammonium chlorides is prepared by reacting equimolar amounts of octyl chloride, decyl chloride and monomethylamine in the presence of potassium iodide, and aqueous caustic soda; vacuum stripping the upper phase of the product and treating it with isopropyl alcohol and methyl chloride. Didecyl methyl benzyl ammonium chloride is prepared by reacting didecylamine, benzyl chloride, acetonitrile and acetone. |
