[Also in Divisions C2, C4 and D1] In Examples 10-13 and 111 azo dyes which contain pentadienoylamino-groups are homo- or co-polymerized to form coloured polymers. Polymerization is effected by heating in diethyleneglycol-dimethyl ether optionally in presence of α-α<SP>1</SP>-azobisisobutyronitrile, or in methyl methacrylate containing α-α<SP>1</SP>-azobisisobutyronitrile or in aqueous dioxan under nitrogen in presence of ammonium persulphate and sodium metabisulphite. The homopolymers may be incorporated in polyethylene.
