1,217,868. Substituted benzoic acid derivatives. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA FABRIK A.G. 22 April, 1968 [28 April, 1967], No. 18869/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] Substituted benzoic acid derivatives are prepared by reacting a carboxylic acid of formula or an ester, anhydride or halide of said acid with an amine of formula HNR<SP>3</SP>R<SP>4</SP>, wherein R<SP>1</SP> is H, alkyl, halogen, CF 3 , NO 2 , NH 2 , CO 2 H or a salt of NH 2 or CO 2 H; and R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, benzyl, cycloalkyl, or bicycloalkyl. Preparations specifically described are: 2-methylbenzoic N-hydroxyanilide from phenylhydroxylamine and 2 - methylbenzoyl chloride; 2-methylbenzoic cyclohexylamide from cyclohexylamine and 2-methylbenzoyl chloride; 2-methylbenzoic 3<SP>1</SP>.N-methylcarbamoyloxyanilide from methyl isocyanate and 2 - methylbenzoic 3<SP>1</SP>- hydroxyanilide; N-dimethylaminophthalimide from phthalic anhydride and N,N-dimethylhydrazine; 2-methylbenzoic 2<SP>1</SP>,6<SP>1</SP> - dimethylmorpholide from 2- methylbenzoyl chloride and 2,6-dimethylmorpholine; and 2-chlorobenzoic butyn-1<SP>1</SP>-yl-3<SP>1</SP>- amide from 2-chlorobenzoyl chloride and butyn- 1-yl-3-amine. Other benzoic acid derivatives of specified m.p. are listed. |
