titleOfInvention | Resolution of enantiomorphic compounds |
abstract | 1,216,190. Resolution of amino acids. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 29 April, 1968 [15 May, 1967], No. 22455/67. Heading C2C. Resolution of an enantiomorphic mixture of a compound in which an amino group is attached to an asymmetric C atom is achieved by interacting the mixture with a single opticallyactive form of a substitution-inert metal coordination compound give a diastereoisomeric interaction product, selectively removing and recovering the enantiomer which is less strongly held by the metal co-ordination compound and recovering the original metal co-ordination compound. The co-ordination compound is preferably [Co<SP>III</SP>EDTA]- and the resolution is advantageously performed in aqueous solution. The less strongly held enantiomer may be selectively removed by precipitation and similarly the bound enantiomer may be released from the interaction product by precipitation. In an example DL-lysine hydrochloride was treated with [l K Co<SP>III</SP> EDTA] and phosphotungstic aid added to precipitate the unbound D-lysine, which was recovered from this precipitate by treatment with barium hydroxide. |
