1,215,683. Coating. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 3 March, 1969 [4 March, 1968], No. 11149/69. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C3] Aluminium and steel surfaces are coated either by fusing a powder or using a solution of a curable composition comprising an epoxy resin and a fusible adduct of a mono- or polyepoxide with an imidazole having a secondary amino group in the ring, e.g. imidazole, 2- methylimidazole or 2-ethyl-4-methylimidazole and optionally substituted benzimidazole. Salts of the imidazole, e.g. with solicylic acid, may also be used. The adducts may be formed for monoglycidyl ethers or esters or with epoxy resins, e.g. the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A. Conventional curing agents, e.g. polycarboxylic acid anhydrides, polyamines or phenol formaldehyde resins may additionally be used. The coatings may be cured by heating, e.g. for 5 minutes at 205‹C. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1,050,679 and 1,063,550. |
