1,214,394. Solutions of basic dyes. J. R. GEIGY A.G. 2 Oct., 1968 [3 Oct., 1967], No. 46783/68. Heading D1B. The invention comprises a 5-50 % by weight solution of a cyclammonium dye salt, the cationic moiety of which is free from groups which dissociate acid in neutral water, in an aqueous solvent medium which comprises an aliphatic monocarboxylic acid of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and optionally auxiliary substances the solution being free from any liquid organic solvent for the dye salt other than the said acid, the concentration of the acid being such that all the dye salt is dissolved in the solvent medium. The dyes may be azo or benzo-1,2- pyrone dyes having methyl or ethyl sulphate, acetate, chloride, sulphate, phosphate, or trichloride zincate anions, preferably dissolved in at least 50% by weight of aqueous monocarboxylic acid, e.g. acetic acid. The dye salt solutions are used for dyeing polyacrylonitrile and cellulose acetate. |
