1,213,803. Electron beam irradiation apparatus. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 3 Oct., 1967 [3 Oct., 1966 (3); 7 Sept., 1967], No. 45036/67. Heading HID. [Also in Division C7] An electron-discharge device 100 for polymerizing a resin coating electrodeposited on a moving conductive sheet 15 comprises a main metal housing 101 connected to a positive lead 119 and containing a cathode housing 105, within which are positioned a pair of bus-bars 109, 111 each connected to a negative lead 115, 117 and which hold between them a plurality of tungsten wire cathode filaments 113 emitting electrons which are formed by a slot 107 into a sheet directed towards a window 141 of Al, an alloy of Al containing minor amounts of Li, Ti, Be, Mg and/or Th, or stainless steel, forming an anode, and clamped between a water-cooled heat sink grid 125 of Cu, Al or an alloy thereof, and an apertured retaining block 151. Magnetic scanning may be employed. |
