titleOfInvention Substituted vinyl carbamates and compositions containing them
abstract 1,212,548. Vinyl carbamates. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 22 Oct., 1968 [20 Dec., 1967], No. 57771/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] Novel vinyl carbamates of the formula where X is oxygen or sulphur, R 1 and R 2 are H or hydrocarbyl, or hydrocarbylthio, R 3 is H or hydrocarbyl or together with R 2 and the vinylene group forms an optionally substituted cycloaliphatic ring system, R 4 represents H or alkyl, and R 5 is alkyl, with the proviso that when R 2 , R 3 and the vinylene group jointly form a ring then R 1 is not hydrogen, are prepared (a) when X is oxygen, by reacting a carbonyl compound of formula R 1 R 2 CH-C(O)R 3 with a strong base in an aprotic solvent medium and reacting the product with a carbamoyl halide of formula R 4 R 5 N-C(O)Hal or with phosgene and an amine HNR 4 R 5 or when R 4 is H, with an isocyanate of formula R 5 -NCO, or (b) when X is sulphur, by forming a metallo derivative of a halide of formula R 1 R 2 C = CR 3 Hal, and reacting the metallo derivative with sulphur and either the above mentioned carbamoyl halide or isocyanate in an organic solvent. The novel compounds have pesticidal properties.
