[Also in Division A5] A plant growth regulating composition comprises a solid carrier, or a liquid carrier and a surface active agent, together with a carboxamidothiazole of formula wherein X is alkyl, substituted alkyl, amino or substituted amino, and R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are H or substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon or R<SP>1</SP> + R<SP>2</SP> together with the N form an heterocyclic ring. The substituents on the hydrocarbon groups may be halo, nitro, carboxyl, ester, ether, alkoxy or carboxylic acyl. The invention comprises the application (e.g. to plants, seeds or the soil) of the above compositions or the carboxamidothiazole compounds per se.
