titleOfInvention | Method for producing citric acid by fermentation |
abstract | 1,211,246. Preparation of citric acid by fermentation. TAKEDA YAKUHIN KOGYO K.K. 5 June, 1968 [7 June, 1967], No. 26694/68. Heading C2C. Citric acid is prepared by inoculating a citric acid-accumulating and hydrocarbonassimilating strain of a yeast belonging to the genus Candida in an aqueous culture medium containing at least one normal paraffin with from 9 to 20 carbon atoms, incubating the culture at a pH of from 4 to 7À5 until citric acid is substantially accumulated in the culture broth and recovering the citric acid therefrom. Nitrogen sources i.e. inorganic and organic nitrogen compounds are present in the medium and inorganic salts may also be present. The incubation is carried out at between 15‹ and 40‹ C. In examples the cultures used are Candida lipolytica, C. tropicalis, C. intermedia, C. parapsilosis, and C. guilliermondii. |
