abstract | 1,206,596. Unsaturated fluorine compounds. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 14 March, 1968 [10 April, 1967], No. 16358/67. Heading C2C. The invention comprises the compound and its preparation by heating tetrafluoroethylene pentamer of the general formula with an organic C 2 -C 4 aliphatic monocarboxylic acid or a salt thereof in an anhydrous solvent. The reaction also gives a by-product of the formula The following reactions of the compound of the invention are described: (i) Reaction with sodium in methanol, followed by acidification with dil.H 2 SO 4 to give (C 2 F 5 ) 2 (CF 3 )C-CH = C(CF 3 )-OCH 3 . (ii) Reaction with sodium bisulphite to give (C 2 F 5 ) 2 (CF 3 )-C-H = C(CF 3 )-SO 3 Na. (iii) Reaction with (C 2 H 5 ) 2 NH to give (C 2 F 5 ) 2 (CF 3 )C-CH=C(CF 3 )-N(C 2 H 5 ) 2 as major product and (C 2 F 5 ) 2 (CF 3 )C-CH=CF-CF 3 as minor product. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,082,127. |
