titleOfInvention | Aqueous solutions of reduced viscosity of ethoxylated phenols, ethoxylated long-chain alcohols, amines and mercaptants |
abstract | 1,205,721. Solutions of ethoxylated compounds. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 10 Dec., 1968 [19 Dec., 1967; 1 April, 1968], No. 58658/68. Heading C3R. The viscosities of aqueous solutions of ethoxylated phenols or ethoxylated long-chain alcohols, amines or mercaptans, are reduced by incorporating in the solutions compounds of formula where R is hydrogen, hydroxy, carboxy, carbalkoxy, carbamide, carbalkylamide, alkyl or substituted aryl, and X is hydroxy, alkoxy, aralkoxy, amino, alkylamino or arylamino. In examples the ethoxylated materials are nonylphenol, dodecylphenol, oleyl alcohol, a mixture of alkanols having 16 to 20 carbon atoms, methylstearylamine and dodecylmercaptan, and these ethoxylated materials are mixed with 4-hydroxybenzoic acid butyl ester, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid propyl ester, 4-hydroxy isophthalic acid, 3-hydroxybenzoic acid, salicylic acid amide, 2-hydroxy-5-tert.-butylbenzoic acid, 3,5 - dihydroxybenzoic acid, 4 - hydroxybenzoic acid, 4 - hydroxybenzoic acid isoamyl ester and salicylic acid, and the mixtures are dissolved in water. |
