titleOfInvention | Process for preparation of sulphonic acids |
abstract | 1,201,405. Sulphonating higher paraffins. NIPPON SHOKUBAI KAGAKU KOGYO CO. Ltd. 4 Nov., 1968 [4 Nov., 1967], No. 52129/68. Heading C2C. Predominantly mono-sulphonic acids are obtained by reacting at 17-37‹ C. in a homogeneous liquid phase, a C 10-30 straight chain paraffin hydrocarbon with SO 2 and O 2 , the concentration of SO 2 , in the liquid phase being 7-23% by weight, to a conversion of paraffin of 1-7%, and treating the reaction mixture so formed with water or a water-containing solvent in an amount providing 1-20% by weight of water based on the amount of the reaction mixture. Batchwise and continuous methods are described. Higher proportions of di- and tri-sulphonic acids are obtained in comparative examples outside the above conditions. |
