titleOfInvention Hydrocarbon Separation Process
abstract 1,199,097. Separating hydrocarbons. UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO. 8 Oct., 1968 [13 Oct., 1967], No. 47552/68. Heading C5E. In a process for separating in a zone 13 a hydro-cracked effluent 11 comprising butanes and normally liquid hydrocarbons to provide an intermediate fraction 18 having a predetermined end boiling point, a light fraction 15 comprising principally butanes, pentanes, and hexanes is withdrawn from a point above the point at which the fraction 18 is withdrawn and part at least of the fraction 15 is returned to the zone 13 at 24 to a point below the point of withdrawal of fraction 18. A feedstock having a B.R. of about 38‹ to 566‹ C. is catalytically hydrogenated at (5) with recycled H 2 from a separator (9) and fed at 11, 12 to the zone 13. An example is described in which the production of a jet fuel fraction having a B.R. of about 154‹ to 274‹ C. is maximized from a blend of vacuum tar reduced crude, gas oil and light and heavy cycle oils.
