abstract | 1,198,582. Hydroxy butadienes. ATLANTIC RICHFIELD CO. 31 July, 1968 [2 Aug., 1967], No. 36615/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Divisions C1 and C3] A process for preparing conjugated dienes of 5 to 11 carbon atoms and of formula where each individual R is hydrogen, C 1-5 alkyl or phenyl comprises isomerizing at elevated temperatures an epoxide of formula where R is as defined above, in the presence of lithium phosphate. The process is preferably carried out at temperatures between 80‹ and 250‹ C. 2-Methyl-crotonaldehyde is also a major product in isomerizing 3-methyl-3,4-epoxybutene-2. |
