[Also in Division C3] The invention comprises compounds suitable as stabilizers of chlorine-containing polymers (see Division C3) of the general formula where R is an unsubstituted or halogenated alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aryloxy radical, R<SP>1</SP> is H or one or more unsubstituted or halogenated alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or alkoxy radicals or a condensed ring system, n is 0, 1, 2 or 3, Z is tin. The compounds are prepared from a phenolic benztriazole of the general formula and a compound (R) n ZY 4-n , where R, R<SP>1</SP>, n, and Z are defined above and Y is H, an O/ 2 group (related to one Sn atom) or a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy radical or an aryloxy radical or a halogen atom. When n is greater than 1, R may be the same or different, e.g. methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, n-propyl, phenyl, naphthyl, phenoxy, or α- or #-naphthoxy radicals. R<SP>1</SP>, same or different, may be hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, methoxy, ethoxy, iso-propoxy, n-propoxy. The phenolic compound may be 2-hydroxyphenyl benztriazole and the preferred reactive tin compounds are SnCl 4 , and di-n-butyltin chloride. Di-n-butyl-di-(N-benztriazolyl-2-phenoxy) tin can thus be prepared.
