abstract 1,190,541. α-Fluoro-malonic esters. GRUPPO LEPETIT S.p.A. 29 April, 1968 [12 May, 1967], No. 19983/68. Divided out of 1,175,996. Heading C2C. α-Fluoro-malonic esters of the formula wherein R is aryl, substituted aryl or dibenzofuranyl, are prepared by reacting a diester of the formula wherein R is same as above, with an equimolecular amount of perchloryl fluoride in the presence of NaH in an inert organic solvent. The intermediate malonic diester is prepared by heating a compound of the formula R-CH 2 -COOC 2 H 5 , wherein R has the above significance, with 1 to 1À5 equimolecular amounts of NaH, or sodium ethoxide and at least an equimolecular amount of diethyl carbonate or diethyl oxalate optionally in the presence of an anhydrous solvent. Pharmaceutical compositions containing these fluoroesters are found to have anti-inflammatory activity and are administered orally and intramuscularly.
