titleOfInvention | Detergent Composition |
abstract | 1,189,114. Detergent composition. UNILEVER Ltd. 25 May, 1967 [27 May, 1966], No. 23759/66. Heading C5D. A foam-producing non-soap particulate detergent composition has incorporated therein, by weight of the composition, 0À5-4% of a C 8-25 aliphatic alcohol and 1-5% of a C 8-25 fatty acid soap, in order to improve the rinsability of the composition. - Suitably the alcohol is a C 12-18 alcohol and the main component of the non-soap detergent is an alkylbenzene sulphonate, an alkyl sulphate, an α-olefin sulphonate, an alkylphenol-ethylene oxide condensate or a long chain alcohol-ethylene oxide condensate. Builder salts such as sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium nitrilotriacetate, sodium EDTA and sodium ethane 1 -hydroxy- 1,1-diphosphonate suitably make up 10-50% of the composition. The soap may be an alkali metal, ammonium or substituted ammonium soap. When for use in soft water areas, the composition should contain a watersoluble alkaline-earth metal salt (e.g. CaCl 2 ) or the soap should be present as an alkalineearth metal soap. Further additives such as colouring materials, fluorescers and perfumes may also be present. |
