abstract | 1,189,032. Process for preparing N-containing dyestuffs. CIBA Ltd. 19 Aug., 1968 [18 Aug., 1967], No. 39662/68. Heading C4P. Nitrogen containing aromatic dyestuffs are prepared by condensing an aryl halide containing a halogen atom which is replaceable under the reaction conditions with a nitrogen compound in which the nitrogen bears a replaceable hydrogen atom in presence of an acid-binding agent and an addition compound of a copper I halide and a tertiary base as catalyst, e.g. addition compounds of cuprous iodide with triethylamine, dimethylaniline, N - methylpyridine, N - methylmorpholine, pyridine, quinoline, picolines, lutidines, collidines, isoquinolines and αα<SP>1</SP>-di-pyridyls. The reaction preferably takes place in an inert organic solvent boiling above 120‹ C., at 120-250‹ C. The preferred aryl halides are anthraquinones and the N-containing compounds may be of the anthraquinone, triazine, carboxylic acid amide, quinazoline, benzthiazole and melanine series. |
