titleOfInvention Process for production of a Free-Flowing Hop Acid Complex
abstract 1,188,484. Hop acids. MILLER BREWING CO. 29 Jan., 1969 [13 March, 1968], No. 5010/69. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C6] The invention comprises a granular non-sticky free-flowing complex of ammonia with a hop acid, said complex having an ammonia: hop acid mole ratio of approximately 1:1. The complex is prepared by reacting the hop acid with ammonia in solution in a solvent for the acid having a dielectric constant not greater than 2À1, thereby precipitating the complex. The hop acid may be a humulone, isohumulone or a reduced form of such compounds.
