titleOfInvention New Phenthiazine Derivatives
abstract 1,186,973. Phenthiazines. RHONE-POULENC S.A. 28 March, 1968 [29 March, 1967], No. 15046/68. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of Formula I in which R is straight or branched alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl containing at least 4 carbon atoms, preferably 4-17 carbon atoms, and their acid addition salts are prepared by (1) reacting 3 - dimethylsulphamoyl- 10 - {3 - [4 - (2- hydroxyethyl) - piperidino] - propyl} - phenthiazine with a compound R-CO-X where X is an acid residue of a reactive ester, OH, C 1-4 alkoxy, imidazolyl, alkanoyloxy, alkenoyloxy or alkynoyloxy group or (2) reacting a phenthiazine of formula in which Y is an acid residue of a reactive ester, with an alkali metal salt of an acid RCOOH. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise a novel compound of Formula I together with a suitable diluent or carrier for enteral or parenteral administration. They possess neuroleptic, antiemetic and tranquillizing properties.
