A process for the control of powdery mildew comprises applying to infected plants a compound C m H 2m+1-r (OCH 2 H 2 ) s OCH 2 CH 2 OH, wherein the hydrocarbon chain is unbranched, m is 12 to 20, r is 0 or 2, and s is 3 to 10. The compound optionally may be applied in conjunction with another fungicide or an insecticide, e.g. 2, 4-dimtro-6-(2-octyl) phenyl crotonate, N-trichloromethylmercapto- 4-cyclohexene-1, 2-dicarboximide or 0, 0-dimethyl-S-(N-methyl-carbamoyl methyl) phosphorodithioate.
