titleOfInvention Process and Diagnostic Agent for the Determination of Hydroperoxides and of Peroxidate-Active Substances
abstract 1,182,898. Determination of hydroperoxides or peroxidase &c. C. F. BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM G.m.b.H. 18 July, 1968 [20 July, 1967], No. 34335/68. Heading B1X. In the determination of hydroperoxides, of substances which react with the liberation of hydroperoxides, of peroxidase or of peroxidateactive substances using the reaction of hydroperoxides with a chromogen in the presence of peroxidase or peroxidate-active substances, the chromogen used has the general formula in which R 1 is -OX or each X is a hydrogen atom or an aliphatic, araliphatic, cycloaliphatic, heterocyclic or aromatic radical, optionally substituted one or more times by hydroxyl, amino or alkoxy radicals; R 2 , R 3 and R 5 which may be the same or different are hydrogen or. amino, hydroxy or alkoxy radicals; R 4 is hydrogen or R 1 . The chromogen may be used as its acid addition salt. Diagnostic agents comprise peroxidase or a peroxidate-active substance and the chromogen (to determine hydroperoxides); hydrogen peroxide or a substance forming hydrogen peroxide and the chromogen (to determine haemoglobin or other peroxidate active substances); the agents may be in solution form or as test papers or films on foil. Examples relate to determination of hydrogen peroxide, of glucose in urine, blood, serum (using a mixture of chromogens) and unspecified liquids, and of blood in urine. There is a list of enzyme-substrate systems involving liberation of hydrogen peroxide. Specification 1,159,627 is referred to.
