Aromatic amines are obtained by treating the corresponding aromatic halogen compounds with ammonia in a reactor constructed of titanium. Examples are given of the manufacture of o- and p-nitroaniline from o- and p-nitrochlorobenzene, respectively. Other specified halogen compounds which may be treated include mono- and di-chloro- and -bromobenzenes, bromonaphthalenes and chlorodiphenyls.
