Novel phenylhydrazones of 1-benzoylhexahydro-4H-azepin-4-one of the formula wherein R and R<SP>1</SP> which may be the same or different are H, C 1-3 alkoxy, C 1-3 alkyl, F, Cl or Br, with the proviso that at least one of the two or the positions (to the hydrazino group) in R and R<SP>1</SP> substituted benzene ring is unsubstituted and # is phenyl are prepared by heating the appropriate phenylhydrazine with 1 - benzoyl - hexahydro - 4H - azepin - 4 - one, which is obtained either by the microbiological oxidation with Sporotrichum sulphurescens ATCC 7159 of 1-benzoylhexamethyleneimine, obtained by reacting benzoyl chloride with hexamethyleneimine, or the oxidation of 1- benzoyl - 4 - hydroxyhexahydro - 4H - azepine, which is produced in the above microbiological oxidation reaction. |
