titleOfInvention | Process for the Preparation of Sulphonated Polynuclear Amines and the New Products thus Obtained |
abstract | 1,180,092. Sulphonated polynuclear amines. UGINE KUHLMANN. 2 March, 1967 [29 March, 1966], No. 9841/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C4] Sulphonated aromatic or heterocyclic poly. nuclear amines are obtained by treating an aromatic or heterocyclic polynuclear amine, dispersed or dissolved in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble salt of sulphurous acid, with an oxidizing agent having an oxidation potential of between + 0.4 and + 0.7 volts measured at pH 7 at 20‹ C. with respect to the normal hydrogen electrode, the pH of the medium being maintained approximately constant at between 3 and 9.5. Specified amines used as starting materials include those of the naphthalene, pyrazole, thiazole, oxazole, imidazole or triazole series. The invention also comprises 1-dimethylamino - naphthalene - 4,7 - disulphonic acid, 2 - monomethylamino - naphthalene - 1,5,7 - trisulphonic acid, 1-amino-7-naphthol-2,4-disulphonic, 2 - methyl - or phenyl - amino - 5 - naphthol - 1,7-disulphonic acid; 4<SP>1</SP> - methoxy- 2 - phenylamino - 5 - naphthol - 1,7 - disulphonic acid, 1 - naphthylamino - 2 - methoxy - or - ethoxy - 4,6 - disulphonic acid, 2 - amino - 7 - naphthol - or - 7 - carboxy - 6 - naphthol - 1 - sulphonic acid, and acids of the formula wherein R 1 represents H, alkyl or aryl; R 2 represents H or alkyl, and X<SP>1</SP> and Y<SP>1</SP> represent H, halogen, OH, alkoxy, COOH, SO 3 H or Examples are given for the production of the sulphonated amines. |
