1,179,252. Cross-linked butadiene polymers. INTERNATIONAL SYNTHETIC RUBBER CO. Ltd. 1 Aug., 1967 [4 May, 1966], No. 19649/66. Heading C3P. A linear polymer of butadiene is rendered thermally reversibly cross-linked by reaction with a carboxylating agent until at least one carboxyl group per hundred polymerized butadiene units has been provided and then by reaction of the carboxyl groups with the metal ion of at least one hydrocarbon soluble alkoxide of a metal of Groups I to III of the Periodic Table. The preferred alkoxide is sodium methoxide. The reaction preferably takes place in solution. The composition may also contain a polyol, e.g. glycerol, as plasticizer. |
