titleOfInvention Improvements in or relating to Bleaching Dyeing
abstract 1,174,816. Bleach dyeing compositions. L'OREAL. 15 Feb., 1967 [15 Feb., 1966; 22 Aug., 1966], No. 7315/67. Heading D1B. Compositions suitable for bleach dyeing human hair comprises (1) at least one watersoluble nitrobenzene or anthraquinone dye; (2) at least one disperse water-insoluble anthraquinone or azo dye and (3) hydrogen peroxide, the nitrobenzene or anthraquinone dye being one of the following; (a) a nitro-p-phenylene diamine of the formula: wherein R 1 R 2 and R 3 may be the same or different and represent H, C 1 -C 6 alkyl, C 1 -C 6 hydroxyalkyl, or -(CH 2 ) n -N(R 4 )R 5 wherein n is 2 to 6, and R 4 and R 5 which may be the same or different represent H, C 1 -C 6 alkyl, C 1 -C 6 hydroxyalkyl, or may together with the N atom form a heterocyclic ring, the radical -(CH 2 ) n -N(R 4 )R 5 optionally being quaternised when R 4 and R 5 are both other than H and when R 1 does not represent -(CH 2 ) n -N(R 4 )R 5 R 2 may also be a #-hydroxyethyl-amino propyl or a diethylaminoethyl radical; (b) a nitro-O- phenylene diamine of the formula: wherein R 1 and R 2 are as above except that R 2 is not a #-hydroxyethyl aminopropyl or diethylaminoethyl radical; (c) a nitro-m-phenylene diamine of the formula: wherein R 6 is H, halogen, C 1 -C 6 alkyl, or C 1 -C 6 alkoxy, R 7 and R 8 which may be the same or different represent H, C 1 -C 6 alkyl, C 1 -C 6 hydroxyalkyl, R 1 and R 2 are as defined in (a) above with the proviso that when at least one of R, and R 8 is other than the H and one of R 1 and R 2 is a radical -(CH 2 ) n -N(R 4 )R 5 in which R 4 and R 5 are as defined above the other of R 1 and R 2 is not a C 1 -C 6 hydroxy alkyl radical; (d) a nitrobenzene compound of the formula: wherein R 9 is H or C 1 -C 6 alkyl and R 10 is H, C 1 -C 6 alkyl or C 1 -C 6 hydroxyalkyl; (e) a nitroaniline of the formula: wherein R, and R 2 are as defined in (a) above except that R 2 is not a #-hydroxyethylaminopropyl or diethylaminoethyl group; or (f) a water-soluble anthraquiuone compound of the formula A-NH-(CH 2 ) @ NHR<SP>1</SP> wherein R<SP>1</SP>is H, C 1 -C 6 alkyl or C 1 -C 6 hydroxyalkyl, n is as defined in (a) above and A is a radical wherein Z<SP>1</SP> is H or -NHR 13 wherein R 13 is H or C 1 -C 6 alkyl, and Z is H or -NHR<SP>11</SP> in which R<SP>111</SP> is H, C 1 -C 6 alkyl or -(CH 2 ) n NHR<SP>1</SP> in which R<SP>1</SP> and n are as defined above with the proviso that the radical -NH-(CH 2 ) n -NHR<SP>1</SP> may occupy only the following positions on the anthraquinone nucleus; (i) the 1-position, in which case Z<SP>1</SP> is H or Z, if other than H, occupies the 4, 5 or 8 position, (ii) the 2-position, in which case R<SP>1</SP>, Z and Z<SP>1</SP> are all H or (ii) the 5-position in which case R<SP>1</SP> is H, Z<SP>1</SP> is NHR 13 in the 4-position and Z is NHR" in the 1- position R" being H or C 1 -C 6 alkyl, R 13 and R" being the same or different, or their acid addition salts. The compositions may also contain surface active agents, thickeners, perfumes, inorganic and organic bases, aliphatic alcohols and ethers and preferably have a pH of 8 to 11. The composition may comprise twin packs, one containing hydrogen peroxide and the other the dyestuffs. The composition may be applied to the hair for 15 to 45 minutes which is then shampooed, rinsed and dried.
