[Also in Divisions C2, C5 and D2] Bactericidal compositions comprise, as active ingredient, a 2-ethylhexyl-1-urea derivative of the general formula: wherein R is a benzene residue which is substituted by a halogen atom or a trifluoromethyl group on at least one carbon atom which is not vicinal to the carbon atom linked with the amino group, and this benzene residue contains in the position para to the amino group a hydrogen or halogen atom, together with a carrier or diluent. For cosmetic compositions, a pharmaceutically acceptable liquid is used as the carrier. For disinfectant cleansing compositions, a surface active agent may be used in place of the diluent or carrier, optionally together with water, an organic solvent, a light filter, an optical brightener, a fungicide or a further bactericide. |
