titleOfInvention | A method for preparing an Oxidic Fissile Material containing a Metal Boride |
abstract | 1,171,534. Nuclear fuel. REACTOR CENTRUM NEDERLAND (STICHTING). 27 Sept., 1967 [5 Oct., 1966], No. 44035/67. Heading G6C. [Also in Division C1] Nuclear fuel containing a metal boride as a burnable poison is prepared by mixing particulate uranium dioxide and/or plutonium dioxide with the metal boride, reducing the mixture in CO until the dioxide has an oxygen to metal atomic ratio of 2À01 to 2À025, and sintering the product in an inert atmosphere. Reduction may be carried out at 350-520‹ C. and sintering at 1500‹ C. or above in helium or argon. The boride may be UB 4 . ThB 4 or a mixture thereof. Zinc stearate may be present as a lubricant. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,053,598. |
