titleOfInvention Graft Polymers.
abstract 1,171,067. Grafted alkyl acrylate-diene copolymers. BORG-WARNER CORP. 2 Feb., 1968 [10 Feb., 1967], No. 5493/68. Heading C3G. A graft polymer is prepared by polymerizing alpha-chloroacrylonitrile and/or alpha-bromoacrylonitrile in the presence of a prepolymerized alkyl acrylate-conjugated diene backbone copolymer. The backbone copolymer preferably contains 90 to 99% by weight of the alkyl acrylate and 10 to 1% of the diene. In the examples, chloro- or bromo-acrylonitrile is grafted on to a copolymer formed by emulsion polymerization of butadiene with ethyl acrylate and/or n-butyl acrylate. The graft polymer formed is recovered from the latex by coagulation and cured.
