titleOfInvention Improvements in or relating to a Method of Preparing Surgical Prosthetic Implant Material for the Repair and Replacement of Vascular Organs and Tissues in Human Bodies.
abstract 1,169,436. Porous glycol methacrylate polymer/collagen compositions. CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED. 26 June, 1967 [9 July, 1966], No. 29316/67. Headings C3C and C3P. A mixture of glycol monomethacrylate or polyglycol monomethacrylate having not more than 2% by wt. of a cross-linking agent and an additive capable of creating open pores of diameter at least 100 Á is polymerized, the pores are at least partially filled, during or after polymerization, with collagen and the product is maintained at a temperature not higher than 37‹ C. and is used for surgical prosthetic implants. In examples (1) glycol monomethacrylate was polymerized in the presence of an aq. glycerol mixture of collagen with glycol bismethacrylate as cross-linking agent and the water as pore former, antibiotics, trimethylol melamine as hardener for the collagen and diisopropyl percarbonate and the product was partially freeze dried; and (3) an aq. mixture of collagen and trimethylol melamine was freeze dried and covered with a mixture of dimethyl-aminoethyl acetate, aq. ammonium persulphate and both the methacrylates of (1), and the product was freeze dried. The product may be sterilized by irradiation with Co<SP>60</SP> cobalt isotope or with ethylene dioxide.
